A GUIDE TO CONTINUOUS SHIFT WORK (4th EDITION)
This publication is an established reference work on all types of continuous shift work. That is, rotas that provide twenty-four hours cover a day, for seven days a week, for all, or a major part, of the calendar year. In this 4th Edition the opportunity has been taken to revise the text to include a more detailed exposition of the information required, and the decisions to be made when designing a shift rota.
Also additional illustrative rotas have been included. Thus, there are now over 260 fully illustrated examples of various types of continuous rota. The latter includes rotas based on four, four-and-a-half, five-and-a-half and six team working. Also examples of rotas based on the working of two, three, or four shifts a day are provided.
Alternative ways of aligning production hours required and employee hours available are illustrated, including the use of a central pool of spares, additional team members, contractual overtime, lieu or additional shifts, unpaid meal breaks and overlaps. Also examined are various methods of providing holiday cover, including over 60 examples of fully integrated annual hours rotas in which holidays are an integral part of the pattern of working time.
