One of the three types of claim provided for in the Equal Pay Act.
In this case the focus of attention is on the relative value/worth of work undertaken by the Claimant and that of the Comparator. It is concerned with assessing and comparing the relative impact of various types of demand generated by the work they do. That is, it seeks to ascertain whether the value of the work undertaken by a Claimant is of at least equal value to one, or more, named Comparators.
Put another way it is based on the proposition that different, in some instances very different, types of work can be, and often are, of equal value.
