Two alternative definitions
- Time based. A pattern of working time in which each 24hr period is split into two shifts. The most commonly occurring division is two shifts of 12hrs, although provided they add up to 24hrs, other shift lengths are feasible. The cover required can be generated by any number of teams.
- People based. A pattern of working time in which the labour force is split into two groups of employees. Between them these two groups cover all rostered shifts. However, each individual team / crew / set / shift may, or may not, work all types of rostered shift.
